I'm doing a showing of "Newtown in the 30s" tonight - 8PM at The New Theatre in conjunction with The Black Friday GPS tour which takes you on a guided adventure though the streets of Newtown where you'll experience the riots that took place when police tried to evict families during the depression.

It looks as though someone has set up a video camera on King St in the ‘30s, and you will hear the sounds of trams, local traffic, horses and one or two motorcars. Says Garnett of his artwork: “Many of the buildings we are familiar with were there in the 30s. They’ve stayed around but they’ve changed and grown up.”
